Ballast Point Homework Series Batch 2 Beligian-style Double IPA. Damn tasty beer.
The Ass Kisser Vanilla Pale Ale? Not so much. It was a joke gift from a beer-loving employee. Tastes like a slightly (only slightly) better Budweiser.
It's hump day. What are y'all drinking?

I haven't had a beer since Sunday.
Am I allowed to have one with dinner tonight because it's hump day?
I used to feel bad if I had a beer more than 2-3 nights in any given week. But my fellow opponauts are helping me not feel like an alcoholic if I have a beer with dinner (even if it's a strong beer that has as much alcohol as 2 regular beers ;)

Nothing tonight, but that Ballast Point would be very appropriate when I have to grade homework...I wonder if a fellow teacher brewed that?

It's my friends bday today so I'll see what she drinks, what my gf drinks, what my guys drink, and what my other friends drink. Most likely I'll drink Lagunitas IPA, Hefenweizen, or Shock Top. Shots/Mixed I might do are, Henn, Jack, Jager(bombs), Royal pussies, or wtver. Time to get fud' up on hump day. Schools tomorrow fuck me lol

Yeah, I wouldn't frown upon a beer or glass of wine with dinner a few times per week. My wife and are are splitting the bottle, and we each only had a sip of the Ass Kisser and the rest went down the drain.

Now I'm excited.
I'm still at the office. But I have a good beer to look forward to when I get home :)

Ninkasi Vanilla Oatis or Stone's Smoked Porter with Vanilla Beans and I'm salivating, but a vanilla pale ale just sounds terrible. Belgian yeast in an IPA is heaven of which the brewers on the glass of yours taught me long ago with their Cali-Belgique.
Ballast Point beers have started regularly showing up in the bottle shops around Portland so I'll have to keep an eye out.
Tonight I'm having some Deschute's Red Chair NWPA and some Full Sail Black Bock. Full sail usually makes boring beer, but this one is a winner.

Good news, they upped the classification of alcoholism recently to be less about consumption and more about effect and influence of said consumption! They now stipulate that 14 or more drinks a week as to when to start considering alcohol dependency.
Or at least says my roommate who just finished school to be a social worker and keeps up on DSM changes.
I consider this revelation a step towards recovery, hahah!

Haha awesome!
So 14 a week. That means you can drink 2 beers a night!
But does "drink" mean 1 shot, 1 glass of wine, or one beer with a roughly 3-5% alcohol content?
I jumped on the IPA bandwagon (around the same time I jumped onto Oppo, lol). So most my beers have 7-9%...

I live five minutes from Stone, so I'm totally spoiled with their beers. Very happy to have had a friend bring over a bottle of the Smoked Porter with Vanilla Bean, and the Cali-Belgique is one of my favorite go-tos at the restaurant.
Portland is also a great beer town, so I'm sure you're not lacking in quality brew. My best friend lives up there so I swing through once in a while.

It just says 14, 12oz beers so interpret that as you may. I'm usually well beyond that so I won't even try and justify.
But yeah craft beer is such a deal when you calculate content. I can buy a 6 pack of PBR and drink the whole thing or a six pack of decent local craft beer and drink 3 of em. It's kinda like when I was in high school and we gave my friend's dad some pot and he nearly passed out on one hit because the shit he was used to smoking in the 70's was closer to hemp than the shit now days.

I wanted to hit up Stone and Lagunitas when I visited my friend in San Diego but I was so unaware of how huge a city it is. We hit up a bunch of local joints near his place, The Blind Lady Ale House was a few blocks away so we spent most our evenings there.
Portland is an awesome town for a drunk, the first 2 years I lived here I don't think I went more than 2 weeks without going to some special beer release or beer fest.

You can't go wrong in that part of town. Normal Heights, University Heights, North Park, and Hillcrest are all filled with fantastic beer bars.
The main Stone brewery is a good 35 minute drive from there to north county, but you also have a ton of brewery tasting rooms up there. If you could care less about the brewery tour at Stone, they now have another restaurant not far from the airport at Liberty Station.

Yeah, we hit a bunch of others but BLAH was the only one that was memorable, likely because it was the first one we hit.
I wanna make it down that way again, primarily to hit the parts of hwy 1 and 101 that we skipped on the way down. We went from Newport, OR to San Fran primarily on 101 and 1, but missed Big Sur because we were a little road weary and wanted to get to San Diego.
We had awesome luck traveling in early spring and there was little traffic. Those roads are so twisty and fun to drive, especially at night when you're on the edge of your seat as the road snakes through the redwood forests. I drove for so many hours and was still unphased, but struggled on the drive back up I-5 because the drive was so damn boring.
Was definitely in the top ten life events driving down that coast, so fucking stunning.

I haven't had anything tonight, but last night I finally had the bottle of Dogfish Head 120min IPA that's been in my fridge for over a month.

Haha that's a great analogy. Craft beer is like stepping up from 70s weed to modern chronic
